This time next Tuesday night I will be sitting on a plane headed for Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Wow! I guess it is starting to set in that I am really going to do this.
Currently, I am in getting-ready-to-go-hell. This includes moving, showing my place to potential renters, trying to get over a lingering cold, buying gear, dry cleaning business clothes that I will not have to wear for a very long time, buying travel insurance, canceling car insurance, and realizing that I do not have the slightest clue about blogging. This also includes copious amounts of drinking with friends. The drinking is not helping my hacking cough at all. New Years Eve in New York City with my friends did not help either.
A good friend of mine, Jeremy Young, lived in Argentina for 6 months a few years back. He brought back fluent Spanish skills and a hot Latin bride. I am hoping for the Habla Espanol aspect. Not that a smoking hot Argentinian wife wouldn’t be fantastic, but this is a long trip. Anyway, I am meeting up with J Young tomorrow night to try to figure out what the hell I am going to do in South America for four months. There is also a chance that some ferocious free styling may occur; I attempt to free style quite often. Right now I have 4 days booked at a hostel in downtown Buenos Aires. Their website looks decent. As of now, I do not have any semblance of an agenda yet. Let me be very clear about one thing– I took three years of Spanish in high school and hated every second of it. I am pretty sure I received straight C’s. Senorita Rosak wasn’t a big fan of dford. The only phrase I remember is “Donde el Bibliotecha”. So, I’m hoping to get into Spanish classes immediately or else suffer the consequences of ADD in Baltimore County public schools.
Well, that is it for right now. If anyone knows someone that wants to rent an amazing spot in Canton shoot me an email. Click here for pix and info: http://baltimore.craigslist.org/apa/256490102.html
Here is a bit about Buenos Aires from Wikipedia:
Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and its largest city and port. It is located on the southern shore of the Río de la Plata, on the southeastern coast of the South American continent, opposite Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, at 34°40′S 58°24′W (-34.667, -58.40).
Strongly influenced by European culture, Buenos Aires is sometimes referred to as the “Paris of the South” or “Paris of South America“. It is one of the most sophisticated cities in Latin America, renowned for its architecture, night life, and cultural activities. It is also among the wealthiest cities in Latin America, housing an extensive middle-class and number of residents who have Higher Education. After the internal conflicts of the 19th century, Buenos Aires was federalized and removed from Buenos Aires Province in 1880; its city limits were enlarged to include the former towns of Belgrano and Flores — both are now neighborhoods in the city
