The Worlds Most Dangerous Road-
Yes, this sounds like a tourist trap. It sounds like something cliche that you have to be a part of just to get the T-shirt. Well, let me be perfectly clear. I have hanglided, and skydived before with no problems whatsoever. Biking down this road was the the absoloute scariest shit I have ever done in my entire life.
About a month ago an Israeli dude went over the edge and died. He dropped 400 meters and they did not find him for a few days. Over the course of the last 10 years when they have done this, there have been 10 total deaths. So, Orla, Martin, Kash, Dark Horse Al, and I went with the best company (Gravity) and got the best bikes possible (they cost about $2500 bucks a piece). The downhills were ridiculous, waterfalls poured over the road in spots, and 75 percent of the trip was over slippery gravel. I felt a bit like a little girl as Orla flew past me a few times.
Note to self: Its Ok to bike like a little girl when you are next to a 500 meter cliff.

Our group at the bottom without an injury or accident!

> Including drivers, over 350 people have died on the stretch of road we biked down in recent history.

Did you steal the Cusco flag?
Dave, it’s Patrick from Puerto Natales, I’ve become addicted to your blog. I also did that bike ride…when we did it was raining at the top so you can imagine the freezing, wet, incredibly scary bike ride that ensued. Take care.
I have become a huge fan of gay rainbow scarfs…. and yes, Its all modeled after the Cusco flag.
Patrick, good to hear from you. I hope your studies in CHile are going well….The death road was no doubt scary as shit.
