NOTES

>Instead of leaving for the cross country adventure at 530am as planned we left at 1pm in the afternoon. Yeah, we were not even close. We decided to bypass the living hell that is Washington DC traffic for the scenic mountains and farmland of Western Maryland. It turned out to be a great choice.

>I secured walki talkies for communication purposes for the two cars.

>Jess and I were in the minivan while Dave, Ben, and Daddio manned the Volvo station wagon.

>On a whim we stopped at historic Harpers Ferry West Virginia. It lies on the peninsula where the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers meet. In 1859 a guy named John Brown tried to take down a federal arsenal in the village with the intentions of thereafter arming the slaves. His goal was to orchestrate a full on slave rebellion. Unfortunately for John, his plan did not work out like he hoped as he was captured and hung. Nonetheless, this event was a major event preceding the US civil war.

>The BV show and Jess forgot their Ids and were subsequently denied refreshing beers during our first lunch of the trip. The BV show was fuming for about an hour. The rest of us found it very amusing. It has to be a bit of culture shock for the Aussies to get denied service in this manner (drinking age in Aus is 18).

The BV show is a fancy good. I do not know what that means but its true.

This a very brief BV Show weather report.

>We managed to time our departure to co-inside with the color change of the forests. The drive was a beautiful blend of small mountains, green pastures, and farm houses (some beautiful, some in ruin). The red, yellow, and orange of the trees provided a glowing backdrop for the entire day.

>At one point I mistook a black cow for a black bear and was consequently ridiculed viciously by my compadres.

Sidenote: It was the most ferocious cow I have ever seen.

n579765782_647288_3620.jpg>We landed in Bristol, Tennessee around 9pm and decided to take it easy in our moderately priced (11 bucks a man) yet comfortable local hotel room. Jess, Benny, Dave, and I played our favorite card game (shithead). Daddio went to bed like a small child at 11pm. The poor guy was just tuckered out.
