Well, we are getting close to releasing all of these glorious Cross Country TV shorts. This next episode is one of my favorites. It follows our antics on the White Sands of New Mexico where the US tested the first Nuclear Bomb back in the 40s. Our experience was much less serious. We more or less played in the sand. You would not believe how much fun it is for grown ups to act like five year olds. I highly recommend it. In addition, this episode also takes us through our freezing cold experience on the highway in the middle of NO WHERE, New Mexico in which our beloved Volvo station wagon blows up. NO BUENO!

NOTES:

> Today I am heading into the wilderness of Gunpowder State Park– which is more like a wooded suburb of Baltimore– to commence my Kilimanjaro training. I need to try and get my trekking legs under me. I have been on the stairmaster at the gym but that does not exactly cut it. Mark and I leave for Tanzania on February 20th. Shit, I just realized that that is in less than two weeks.

> I am looking to buy a new video camera for my three week Africa trip. If anyone has any suggestions let me know. The biggest problems I had with my camcorder on the Cross Country trip was lighting contrast and sound. I definitely need a microphone for this next take. I am planning to take everything that I have learned on this first trip and put it into play for Africa.
