Man Tears in La Paz…. and Tshirts

The Afro is really beginning to take shape.

Written Sunday May 6th- Could not post until today due to lack of Internet in the Jungle.

——————————————————————————-

Im sitting in my La Paz hotel room….Its 2:00am in the morning.

This is my last night in La Paz, and I think Im going to miss it. Even the stopping every 10 steps to catch my breath due to the 4000m altitude is bringing a man tear to my eye.

Ah, the man tear, there has been a few of those these last few days. My Irish contingent left me. The Dark Horse, Martin, Jenny, DJ, and my dear beloved Orla all hit the road for the Salt Flats. Me met up in Lima well over a month a go. Man tears ensued. I have such a new profound love for the Irish.

Back in La Paz: The Triumpant return of the Aussies

Me and Benny

Billy and Darkhorse might be in love

Its official, Billy Barnetson and Benny Vears are back. The BV show, as we will begin to refer to Ben is in full form. It looks like I have my travel buddies back again once my Irish contingent abandons me for the south. I am not sure what exactly we are going to do for the next few days. It looks like we might rock out of La Paz by the end of the week. Billy, is thinking about staying as he has multiple love interests. I would like to make it down to Santa Cruz and then up to the conservation park. We will see what happens.

Journal Entry 5: An amazing last day

Our last day in the Jungle, Tearing up Rurrenbaque

April 28th-

Amazing day, Amazing weather… Martin and I rented four wheelers and have been tearing up Rurrenbaque. I have fallen in love with this place. I almost decided to stay here but the computer blacked out on my while I was typing Rurrenbaque into the web browser at the Internet cafe. When I say black out, I mean it completely broke.

I am going to go ahead and take that as a sign to get the hell out of here.

So, needless to say, back to La Paz I go with the Irish crew to meet Billy and Ben, my Australian comrade’s. I am really going to miss the Dark Horse, Orla, Martin, DJ, and Jenny. Ive learned quite a bit about the Irish and their world (Its a very small world, about the size and population of DC and Baltimore combined) in this past month. I have also learned that Irish people really like to drink. It looks like our split should be within days. I am loving Bolivia. I still really need to get Spanish classes going. However, all of my friends seem to be extremely amused with my communication skills.

Journal Entry 4: Stuck in the Jungle

The Runway in Rurrenbacque

Another verbatim journal entry….

April 27th-

We are literally stuck in the jungle. I guess this is the sort of thing that happens when the airport has a grass runway and it rains to the point where Noah needs to build another ark. I lost my extremely gay wallet that has a picture of a llama and Peru on it. Im not exactly happy about it. I think that my new found love of Johnny Walker Red Label might be to blame. Right now Im sitting in the room with Orla and Martin wondering how long we are going to be stuck here.

Journal Entry 3: Moped Rides and Travel Thoughts

The Butterfly Pool

The Butterfly Pool Hammock Area

Again, this is transposed exactly how I wrote it in my journal in Rurrenbacque.

April 26th-

According to my initial plan that I put together last November, I should be on a plane to L.A. right now. My world ticket, has been completely canceled. My old plan, is so far gone I do not even remember it. So, instead, I rented a motorbike and am now sitting on the top of a mountain overlooking Rurrenbaque, Bolivia. It is a beautiful pool called ¨The Butterfly¨.
